How it works

The Cape Teaching and Leadership Institute (CTLI) is committed to offering continuous education to principals, deputy principals, department heads and teachers in the Western Cape, with courses relevant to each professional category and specific grades. Here you find out how to benefit from these courses.

Course Discovery

Our courses include a broad range of options for all staff categories and all grades. Use our filtering tool on the left-hand side of the screen to find courses that are relevant to you. From the list of courses, you can access a detailed page offering a more precise view of the course content and objectives. If the course interests you, you can apply online.

Application

On each course detail page, you can choose to “Apply now”. If you are applying for the first time, you will be asked to register an account and create a profile (see below). Otherwise, you can apply for the course straight away. Once submitted, your application will be verified against your personal information, to check that you qualify for the course. It will then be vetted by the CTLI.

The status of your application will be updated and displayed on your profile page. If your application is approved, you will receive an official invitation by email.

Registration

To make the application process easier, we require that you enter your personal information once only, so it is available for any future application. Make sure your personal information is accurate when applying, as it affects the acceptance of your application.

Once you have completed your profile, you just need to log in to recall all your personal information. Completing an application after this is a matter of seconds.

Your courses and profile

In your profile, you can find a history of the courses you’ve applied for online and attended. You just need to log in to view that list. You can follow the status of your applications and access the detail of your courses.

You can also view and edit your personal information. Remember that this data is used as critieria to vet your application. It is very important to keep it updated.

Attending a course

If you have been approved to attend a course, you will receive a formal email confirmation.

If you are attending a face-to-face course and will be making use of CTLI hostel accommodation, please note the following:

  • Accommodation registration starts promptly at 16:00 and ends at 18:00 on Sundays, to resume at 07:30 on Monday.
  • No supper is provided on the first evening of registration in the residences. No formal meals are served on weekends, but food supplies are provided for self-catering purposes. Meals start with breakfast on Mondays. All meals are Halaal, but you can specify other dietary requirements in your application form.
