About this Course

Course Overview

This intensive one-day face-to-face course is designed to equip FET Geography teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach mapwork effectively in the classroom. Mapwork is a critical component of the Geography curriculum, enabling students to understand spatial relationships and interpret geographical data. This course will focus on providing teachers with practical strategies for teaching mapwork concepts, techniques, and problem-solving approaches. By the end of the course, participants will have a deeper understanding of mapwork and will be better prepared to engage and inspire their students.

Course objectives

1. Understanding basic mapwork, calculations and map skills

2. Application of content on maps and photos

3. Understanding and application of GIS Concepts

4. Using effective mapwork teaching strategies

 

A pre-and post-test will be set.

Teachers who attend and complete the pre- and post-test will receive a CTLI Certificate of Completion.
